Many employer ask you to provide a list of references.

It is customary to write in the resume "References available upon request". This is for a good reason - you need to warn your references ahead of time before an employer calls them.
In a typical hiring process, you will be first invited for an interview. If the employer is serious about hiring you, they will ask again for references. At that point, you should provide a list of references and also prepare your references for the employer's inquiry. To prepare a list of references, use any word processor. Here is an example of a list of references:
