Summary
If your Internet connection was interrupted or disrupted, the downloaded file may be truncated or corrupted.
More Information
After downloading a file, you may encounter a difficulty running it. This is due to the file being truncated or corrupted.
When running the file, you may get no response, or you may get an error message such as:
- "Contents can not be unpacked. Executable is corrupt, obtain another copy of file"
- "<file name> is not a valid WIN32 application"
- "Cannot unzip file"
It is unlikely that the original file on the server is corrupted because many people download these files successfully every day.
Solution
- In Internet Explorer, select Tools, Internet Options, Delete Files. This will delete any previous copies of the file that may be cached by the system
- If you are using a download acceleration software, turn it off, as it may be causing the problem.
- Delete the file you downloaded
- Repeat the download
