Summary
This article explains how to change the default printer in your computer. This is part of the trouble-shooting procedure for a variety of problems.
Windows XP
- Select Start, Printers and Faxes
- Note the printer icon that has a checkmark - this is your default printer
- Right click on another printer icon, and select "Set as default printer"
- Try the WinWay Resume program again
- If this solves the problem - then the cause is the printer driver
- To restore the original printer driver, repeat the above steps and choose the printer that was originally selected
Windows Vista
- Select Start, Control Panel
- Under "hardware and sound", click on "Printer"
- The currently selected "Default" printer shows a green checkmark
- Right click on "Microsoft XPS Document", and select "Set as default printer"
- Try the WinWay Resume program again
- If this solves the problem - then the cause is the printer driver
- To restore the original printer driver, repeat the above steps and choose the printer that was originally selected
Windows 7, 8 or 10
- Select Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Devices and Printers
- Look at the are titles "Printers and faxes"
- One of the printers has a green checkmark. This is the "Default printer"
- Locate the printer named "Microsoft XPS Document Writer", right click on it, and select "Set as default printer"
- Try the WinWay Resume program again
- If this corrected the problem, than the printer driver is the cause of the problem
- To restore the original printer driver, repeat the above steps and choose the printer that was originally selected
